Five of My Favourite Healthy Snacks on the GO!

Updated: Jun 28, 2021

I often get asked by clients and friends "How I do it?". And this may seem crazy but I often struggle immensely with balance. An entrepreneur who LOVES his community and constantly trying to be better, an avid athlete, a personal trainer, a husband and most importantly a father of three little ones.

Truth is, often I don't have the most perfect routine or the best meal planning skills because life is life and the most important priorities in your life often have a tug-of-war to see which is in first place. Having goals to reach is SO important especially because I am no longer prolonging my life and well-being for myself but for my family. Now be mindful, my health and fitness journey is a lot of muscle building and fat burning so please talk to your trainer or health advocate to ensure these are going to help you in goal assisting. I put a few of my favourite fast snacks on the go to share with parents who are in the middle of the priority tug-of-war as well:

  1. PROTEIN SHAKES! Protein shakes promote muscle gain, improve performance and aid in recovery. They prevent muscle loss and may even help increase muscle mass during weight loss. Here is my favourite recipe: Ingredients: 1 cup frozen banana slices 1 cup almond milk 1 scoop vanilla whey-protein powder 1 tablespoon honey BLEND!

  2. Beef Jerky and a Citrus Fruit - So Easy and on the go! No fridge in sight required ;) Opt in for low sodium or even better locally made. Pair with an orange or grapefruit for healthy carbs and fibre. Also fun fact- the vitamin C in the citrus fruit helps to boost the body's absorption of the iron in the jerky.

  3. Popcorn.... Crunchy Cravings ;) Opt for the low cal and low salt version and sprinkle with a dash of parmesan cheese

  4. Apple in Nut Butter - Bringing along an apple on the go is easy and tasty but adding more protein like almond butter or peanut butter is even tastier and a must have!

  5. Pre-Cut Veggies and Hummus. There is something so great about having pre-cut vegetables just ready to go. Why is it so satisfying? Maybe its the on the run gratification or the 2 minutes you save? Anywho - got sidetracked. Hummus is a great source of plant-based protein, providing 7.9 grams per serving.

Let me know how this goes and if any of these even come to you as a surprise. When you schedule a day to prepare your snacks - your health and fitness success will be much easier.
